Donald was living with Alzheimer's disease, a condition that can cause memory loss and confusion, making individuals vulnerable to getting lost or disoriented. Despite his health challenges, he maintained a routine that was familiar to those around him.

The Day He Disappeared

On July 7, 2020, Donald was last seen in Great Bend. An employee who had regular contact with him reported him missing on the same day, raising immediate concerns due to his medical condition. The Great Bend Police Department began an investigation, recognizing the urgency of locating a missing person with Alzheimer's.

A Vehicle Found, But No Sign of Donald

A week after his disappearance, on July 14, 2020, Donald's vehicle was discovered near the Okmulgee and McIntosh County line, east of Henryetta, Oklahoma, close to the Eufaula Wildlife Management Area. This location is approximately 200 miles from his home in Kansas, suggesting that he had traveled a significant distance before abandoning his vehicle. The discovery of his car in such a remote area intensified the search efforts.

The Search Intensifies

Following the discovery of his vehicle, the Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office initiated a comprehensive search operation. They focused on an area known as "Hoffman Bottoms," near the Deep Fork River and Highway 266. Given the challenging terrain, assistance was requested from the Wagoner County Emergency Management, which provided an airboat to aid in the search. Despite these efforts, there was no sign of Donald.
