On the morning of February 4, 2019, 16-year-old Micaela Miguel-Jose left for school in Los Angeles, California, as she did every weekday. She was last seen around 7:30 a.m., dressed in a purple and blue long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, gray shoes, and carrying a blue backpack. However, when her cousin returned home that afternoon around 4:00 p.m., Micaela was not there. This was uncharacteristic, as she had no history of running away or disappearing without notice. Concerned, her cousin reported her missing to the Los Angeles Police Department's Rampart Station.
Following the report, the LAPD initiated an investigation into Micaela's disappearance. Despite standard procedures, including entering her information into missing persons databases and issuing public appeals, there were no immediate leads. Micaela's case was also listed in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) under case number MP73029. The lack of witnesses or surveillance footage from the day she vanished posed significant challenges to the investigation.
At the time of her disappearance, Micaela was described as a Hispanic female, 4 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She had no known medical conditions or behavioral issues that might explain her sudden disappearance. Notably, she did not have any family members in the immediate area, which may have contributed to the lack of information about her social circle and potential contacts.
As months turned into years, Micaela's case remained unsolved. Despite being featured in various missing persons bulletins and databases, including the California Department of Justice's Missing Persons Bulletin for April - June 2019, no new information surfaced. The case has since been classified as a cold case, with the LAPD continuing to seek any leads that might shed light on her whereabouts....Read More
