A Promising Journey Begins
Maereg Tesfaye Tafesse, a young Ethiopian man, embarked on a journey to the United States in 2012 to pursue higher education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts. Known for his intelligence and quiet demeanor, Maereg was described as predominantly left-handed and possessed a distinctive tattoo of flying birds on his left hand. He also bore scars on his leg and was recognized by his long black hair and beard. After his time in Massachusetts, Maereg's path led him to reside in various states, including Oregon and California, before eventually settling in Seattle, Washington.
The Disappearance
On March 2, 2018, Maereg contacted his family, informing them of his intention to leave the United States. However, there is no evidence to suggest that he ever departed the country. The following day, March 3, 2018, marks the last known contact with Maereg. He was 24 years old at the time of his disappearance.
