Cyrus Jones Quinn Jr. was born on March 11, 1950, and resided in Waterford, Connecticut. An honors graduate of Kent Preparatory School and Wesleyan University, Quinn dedicated his life to the study and teaching of languages. He served as an English and Spanish instructor at Mitchell College, where he was known for his passion for linguistics and his commitment to education. Beyond the classroom, Quinn was a beekeeper and a nature enthusiast, reflecting a life deeply connected to both intellectual pursuits and the natural world .

The last confirmed contact with Quinn was on August 14, 1993, marking the date he was officially declared missing .
Following his disappearance, authorities investigated Quinn's rented vacation home in Mallorca. They discovered all of his belongings intact, except for his wallet and camera, which were missing. This finding suggested that Quinn may have left the residence voluntarily, possibly intending to return shortly. Despite extensive searches and investigations, no further evidence was found to indicate his whereabouts .
At the time of his disappearance, Quinn was described as a 43-year-old white male, standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 185 pounds.
