Ashani Karin Creighton was born on August 16, 1992, in Orlando, Florida. Described as a bright and spirited child, she was just four years old when she was last seen by her mother on March 21, 1997 . Ashani, an African-American girl with brown eyes and brown hair, stood about 4 feet tall and weighed approximately 50 pounds at the time of her disappearance . She may have been known by her middle name, Karin, or used the first name Ashanti .
In March 1997, Ashani's mother allowed her to visit her non-custodial grandparents, Ernest S. Jackson and Kaia Jackson, also known as Ernest and Abiola Anderson . However, the visit took a tragic turn when the grandparents refused to return Ashani to her mother . This act marked the beginning of a harrowing journey that would span states and years, leaving a family in anguish and a community searching for answers.
In August 1998, the Jacksons relocated from Orlando, Florida, to Tulsa, Oklahoma, taking Ashani and their four children with them . The last confirmed sighting of Ashani occurred around this time. Despite the move, there was no indication that Ashani's mother consented to this relocation, and Ashani's whereabouts became increasingly uncertain.
In October 2000, Ernest and Kaia Jackson were arrested in Oklahoma on child abuse charges unrelated to Ashani's case . These charges stemmed from a 1988 incident involving their eight-year-old son, who had run away from home and was found disoriented and covered in burns and other injuries. The child reported severe abuse, including being beaten and starved. The Jacksons had fled after being charged and were not apprehended until 2000. At the time of their arrest, their children were located in Oklahoma, but Ashani was not among them....Read More
