Discovery of a Tragedy
On the morning of April 10, 1975, the quiet town of Craig, Colorado, was shaken by a grim discovery. Two truck drivers, making their routine rounds, stumbled upon the lifeless body of 31-year-old Sheila Sawyer lying on the east side of U.S. Highway 13, approximately seven miles south of Craig. The location, near the old Sterling Hard Ranch, became the focal point of an investigation that has remained unresolved for decades.
Circumstances Surrounding the Crime
The night before her body was found, Sheila was working her shift as a clerk at Scotty’s Liquors. Around 11 p.m., a customer entered the store to find it unattended, prompting them to alert the police.
