A Young Life Full of Promise
Shana Marie Jaros was born on July 15, 1977, in Montgomery County, Illinois, to Duane and Debbie Jaros. She grew up in the small town of Nokomis, where her parents owned the Time Out Cafe. Shana was the eldest of four siblings, with a sister, Janelle, and two brothers, Jeff and Stefan. Described as a warm and friendly individual who always wore a smile, Shana had a passion for helping others. She graduated from Nokomis High School in May 1995 and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Golden Manor Nursing Home. Her aspirations included becoming a nurse, specializing in caring for children or patients with Alzheimer's disease.
A New Chapter Begins
At the age of 18, Shana decided to move out of her parents' home to embrace independence. In late October 1995, she settled into a studio apartment at 527 South Maple Street in Nokomis.
