A Tragic Evening in Ingleside Heights

On the evening of October 10, 2016, the tranquility of San Francisco's Ingleside Heights neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 500 block of Head Street, near Jose Ortega Elementary School. Upon arrival, they discovered 23-year-old San Francisco resident Phillip Gaston suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, Gaston was pronounced dead at the scene. His untimely death marked the third fatal shooting in the city since the preceding Friday and the seventh homicide since the beginning of October 2016.
