A Night Out Ends in Tragedy

In the early hours of March 14, 2016, the Liberty Creek South subdivision on Indianapolis' northwest side was shaken by a tragic event. Nerva Singleton, a 40-year-old mother of five, had spent the evening enjoying a girls' night out at The Point, a local restaurant and lounge where she was a regular. Described by her eldest daughter, Jana, as "normal and happy," Nerva showed no signs of distress or concern that night. She returned home around 3:45 a.m., unaware that danger awaited her just steps from her front door.

The Fatal Moments

As Nerva approached her residence in the 5600 block of Dobbs Ferry Drive, a light-colored Ford Taurus-type vehicle reportedly pulled up. Without warning, shots were fired, and Nerva was struck down on her doorstep. Inside the house, her children were startled awake by the sound of gunfire.
