Discovery of Remains

On September 6, 2003, the tranquil waters of Turnagain Arm near Anchorage's Oceanview residential subdivision yielded a grim discovery: the partial remains of 32-year-old Michelle Rothe. The condition of her body indicated a violent end, and authorities determined she had been murdered between June and July of that year. The lack of immediate missing person reports complicated the initial stages of the investigation, leaving many questions unanswered.

Connection to Another Tragic Case

Just months prior, in June 2003, the torso of 22-year-old Desiree Lekanoff was found in the same waters of Turnagain Arm near Beluga Point. Desiree had been reported missing since December 2001.
