On November 10, 1974, Leonard Stephen Durrett, affectionately known as "King Bootsy," was born. His life, filled with promise and potential, was tragically cut short on September 26, 1998, when he was brutally murdered at the age of 23. Durrett's untimely death left a void in the lives of his family and friends, and his case remains unsolved to this day.
The Fateful Night
On that Saturday, Durrett was in the 1400 block of Franklin Street, NE, in Washington, D.C. It was here that he was fatally shot, his life ending abruptly in a senseless act of violence.
