A Dedicated Educator's Life Cut Short
On January 7, 2017, the Chicago educational community was shaken by the tragic death of Jason E. Goodfriend, a 31-year-old finance and operations director at Chicago Tech Academy. Known affectionately as "Jay" among friends and colleagues, Goodfriend was committed to fostering a positive learning environment for students. His untimely demise not only left a void in the lives of those who knew him but also raised pressing questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Grim Discovery
At approximately 9:50 a.m. on that fateful Saturday, police discovered Goodfriend's lifeless body slumped over the steering wheel of his still-running vehicle on the 1300 block of West Hastings Street in the University Village neighborhood. The location was a mere block away from Chicago Tech Academy, underscoring the proximity of the tragedy to his workplace.
