Police Officer Jair Abelardo Cabrera, a 37-year-old officer from the Salt River Police Department, was fatally shot on May 24, 2014. The incident occurred while Officer Cabrera was making a traffic stop near the intersection of Chaparral Road and Pima Road in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
