A Tragic Morning in Indianapolis
On July 25, 2016, the city of Indianapolis awoke to tragic news. At approximately 5 a.m., 32-year-old Jason Byrd was found lifeless in the driveway of a residence near the intersection of Primrose Avenue and 44th Street on the city's north side. Byrd had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been visiting the house where his body was discovered, and several individuals were inside the home at the time of the shooting.
Immediate Police Response and Arrest
Upon arrival, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers encountered a man attempting to approach them. However, he fled the scene, leading officers on a brief chase that concluded near 43rd Street and Kingsley Drive. The individual was apprehended and taken into custody for resisting arrest. During the arrest, he experienced a non-life-threatening medical episode and was subsequently transported to Eskenazi Health for treatment.
