A Promising Young Life Cut Short

In the early hours of December 25, 2016, the Gage Park neighborhood of Chicago was shaken by the tragic death of 18-year-old Fabian Ortega. A former student of Bogan High School, Fabian was driving northbound in the 5300 block of South Francisco Avenue at approximately 1:33 a.m. when he was fatally shot. The assailant's bullets struck him in the neck and back, causing critical injuries. Despite being rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, Fabian was pronounced dead at 2:16 a.m.

The senseless killing of Fabian Ortega left the Gage Park community and his family devastated.
