A Tragic Evening on State Route 51

On the evening of September 7, 2016, 49-year-old Dinya Farmer was driving north on State Route 51 near Piestewa Peak in Phoenix, Arizona. At approximately 7:20 p.m., she made a distressing call to 911, reporting that a white pickup truck with three men was aggressively following her. The situation escalated rapidly, culminating in a fatal shooting that has left her family and the community searching for answers ever since.

The Desperate 911 Call

During the 911 call, Dinya's fear was palpable. She informed the dispatcher that the men in the white pickup truck had begun following her at Broadway and 7th Avenue, and had continued their pursuit onto the freeway. She described the vehicle as a white work-type truck equipped with ladder racks and a toolbox, and mentioned that one of the men was wearing "an Army shirt."
