A Promising Life Cut Short

On November 27, 2016, 18-year-old Delvon Weston was tragically gunned down in Chicago's Auburn Gresham neighborhood. As he sat in a parked vehicle on the 8800 block of South Marshfield Avenue, a dark-colored SUV approached, and an unknown assailant opened fire, striking Weston multiple times in the chest. Despite his critical injuries, Weston managed to drive himself to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2:22 p.m. This senseless act of violence not only ended a young life full of potential but also added to the growing list of unresolved homicides in Chicago.

A Weekend Marred by Violence

Delvon's murder was one of many violent incidents during the 2016 Thanksgiving weekend in Chicago. Over that four-day period, at least 68 people were shot, eight of them fatally.
