In the early hours of January 16, 2017, the quiet streets of Jacksonville's Tallulah neighborhood were shattered by the sound of gunfire. At approximately 2:20 a.m., officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to reports of shots fired on Lynton Street, just off Norwood Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 31-year-old Chauncey McNair lying in the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to UF Health Jacksonville, McNair succumbed to his injuries, leaving a grieving family and a community searching for answers.
