On January 24, 2019, the life of 56-year-old Albert Ford was tragically ended. He was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound on the 3700 block of O Street, SE, in Washington, D.C. Despite immediate response efforts, Ford was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving a community in mourning and authorities searching for answers.
A Surge in Violence
Ford's death was part of a disturbing trend in the District of Columbia during January 2019. The city experienced a significant increase in homicides, with 19 reported cases that month alone. This marked a 90 percent rise compared to the 10 homicides recorded in January of the previous year.
