Discovery of Dismembered Remains in Biscayne Bay

In early June 2009, Miami residents were horrified by a series of gruesome discoveries along the shores of Biscayne Bay. It began when a cyclist spotted a suspicious bag floating near the 79th Street Causeway. Upon investigation, authorities found human body parts inside. Identification of the Victim: Osben Laparra

The victim was soon identified as 21-year-old Osben Laparra, a Guatemalan immigrant working as a construction laborer in Miami. Described by family and friends as a hardworking and amiable individual, Osben had no known enemies. His sister, Aveda Laparra, recounted, "My brother was a good man and a hard worker." Osben had been missing since May 31, 2009, after a night out at Club El Mexicano on Calle Ocho. His dismembered body parts, discovered in multiple bags, painted a chilling picture of the brutality he endured.
