On October 3, 2003, 25-year-old Muna Mahamud Haji and her companion, 59-year-old Robert Bernard Canuelle, embarked on a boating excursion on Lake Travis, near Austin, Texas. The pair rented a boat from VIP Marina, but approximately an hour later, the vessel was discovered unoccupied, floating in the Cottonwood Cove area near Lago Vista. Despite extensive search efforts, neither Haji nor Canuelle were ever found, leaving behind a mystery that has endured for over two decades.

Muna Haji was a native of Somalia who relocated to the United States in 1997. She stood 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighed 110 pounds, and had brown hair and eyes.
