A Journey to Reconnect with Family

In early August 2018, 68-year-old Shari Christine Saunders embarked on a heartfelt journey from her home in Norfolk, Virginia, to Monroeville, Alabama, aiming to reunite with her family. This trip, which she had undertaken multiple times before, was intended to strengthen familial bonds and create cherished memories. However, this particular voyage would tragically become her last.

The Mysterious Disappearance

On August 5, 2018, in the early hours, Saunders was last seen refueling her 2010 red Toyota Corolla at a gas station off Exit 93 on Interstate 65 in Evergreen, Alabama. Surveillance footage captured her entering the station at 1:08 a.m., prepaying for gas, and departing at 1:11 a.m., heading west on U.S. Highway 84 toward Monroeville.
