In the late 1980s, Kansas City, Kansas, was home to 18-year-old Sarah Jo DeLeon, a recent graduate of Washington High School and a student at Kansas City Community College. Described by friends and family as a vibrant and outgoing young woman, Sarah's future seemed bright and full of promise. However, her life was tragically cut short in December 1989, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew her.
The Fateful Night
On the evening of December 28, 1989, Sarah visited her boyfriend, Matt Uland, at his residence. She departed around 1:30 a.m. on December 29, intending to return home and rest before her classes the following morning. The drive was expected to be brief, but Sarah never made it home. Her black Ford Mustang was discovered abandoned under an overpass on 78th Street beneath Interstate 70, with the driver's side door ajar and hazard lights flashing.
