Introduction: A Leisurely Kayak Trip Turns Tragic
On July 2, 2023, Robert White and James Martin embarked on a kayaking adventure along the Carson River near Brunswick Canyon in Carson City, Nevada. The two men, residing in the Mound House area, were expected to return the same day. However, when they failed to make contact, concerns grew, leading to a search operation initiated by the Carson City Sheriff's Office.
Discovery of James Martin's Body
The search efforts intensified over the following days. On July 5, authorities located the men's vehicle still parked in the canyon area, but there was no sign of the kayakers themselves. Tragically, on July 8, a volunteer kayaker from El Dorado County discovered a body lodged in debris in the Carson River, less than two miles east of the Brunswick Canyon Bridge.
