A Night of Unforeseen Tragedy
On the evening of September 15, 2017, the Brighton Park neighborhood of Chicago was shaken by a devastating act of violence. At approximately 8:35 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 4700 block of South Fairfield Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a gruesome scene: a car riddled with bullet holes and four occupants fatally wounded. Among them was 21-year-old Michelle Adrian Cano, whose life was abruptly and tragically cut short.
The Victims: Lives Interrupted
The victims of this heinous crime were identified as 28-year-old Ida Arvizu, who was seven months pregnant; brothers Joel Sandoval, 24, and Miguel Sandoval, 27; and Michelle Adrian Cano. Arvizu, a dental hygienist, was expecting a baby boy to be named Reymundo and was also the mother of a 7-year-old daughter, Jaelyn. Friends revealed that Joel Sandoval was Arvizu's ex-boyfriend and the father of both children.
