The Life and Legacy of Robert Wone

Robert Eric Wone was a 32-year-old attorney whose life was marked by dedication, intellect, and community service. Born in New York City in 1974 and raised in Brooklyn, he graduated as valedictorian from Xaverian High School. He pursued higher education at the College of William & Mary, where he met Joseph Price, and later earned his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Wone's professional journey included a tenure at Covington & Burling LLP and a role as general counsel at Radio Free Asia. He was also deeply involved in the Asian American community, serving as president-elect of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association at the time of his death.

The Night of the Crime

On August 2, 2006, Wone planned to stay overnight at the home of his college friend, Joseph Price, in Washington, D.C., to avoid a late commute. Price lived with his domestic partner, Victor Zaborsky, and their housemate, Dylan Ward, in a rowhouse on Swann Street. Wone arrived around 10:30 p.m., and by 11:49 p.m., Zaborsky called 911 to report that Wone had been stabbed. Paramedics found Wone unresponsive with three stab wounds to his chest and abdomen.
