Discovery of the Body
In the early hours of October 25, 2004, a trash collector made a horrifying discovery behind the Country Meadows shopping plaza at 7530 Sheridan Boulevard in Westminster, Colorado. The nude body of a young woman was found lying on the pavement near a dumpster, her hands severed and missing from the scene. This gruesome find marked the beginning of a complex and chilling murder investigation that remains unsolved to this day.
Identification of the Victim
Initially, the identity of the victim was a mystery. It wasn't until a family member recognized a composite drawing from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that the woman was identified as 26-year-old Catrina Renee Powell, a Denver resident.
