Lillian Max, a 47-year-old Hispanic woman, had been a resident of Cullman, Alabama, for approximately nine years prior to her disappearance. She was the proprietor of Estetica Lilliam, a hair salon located in the Creel Plaza shopping strip in north Cullman. Described by friends and clients as well-loved and integral to the community, Lillian was single, had no children, and had previously lived in New York and California.
Circumstances Leading to Her Disappearance
On May 1, 2021, Lillian left her salon and met with her friend, Cristobal Contreras, requesting to borrow $500 for a trip to Atlanta, Georgia, purportedly for an immigration hearing. The following day, May 2, a friend drove her to the Greyhound bus station in Birmingham, Alabama, arriving around 1:00 p.m. Due to delays, the bus departed at approximately 10:10 p.m., with an expected arrival in Atlanta around 1:00 a.m. on May 3.
