Born on October 21, 1965, Jonathan Paul Luna was raised in the South Bronx, New York City. His father was Filipino, and his mother was African-American. Luna pursued higher education at Fordham University, followed by the University of North Carolina School of Law. His legal career commenced at Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C., after which he served at the Federal Trade Commission and later as a prosecutor in Brooklyn.
