Harvey Briggs, a 54-year-old former Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) trooper, dedicated over two decades to law enforcement. His career, however, took a controversial turn in August 2020 during a COVID-19 pandemic protest at the Tennessee State Capitol. Briggs was captured on video removing a protester's face mask, an action that led to widespread attention and subsequent legal repercussions. This incident not only resulted in his termination from the THP but also culminated in a misdemeanor assault conviction.

Legal Proceedings and Sentencing

In September 2022, Briggs faced the legal consequences of his actions. He pleaded no contest to the assault charge on September 15, 2022, and was subsequently sentenced to six months of supervised probation.
