A Life Cut Short

On September 8, 2017, 68-year-old David Walker was found shot to death in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His death was part of a series of violent incidents that occurred on the same day, including the murders of Harold Anthony and Donovan Cummings. Authorities believe these killings may be interconnected, yet, to date, no one has been held accountable for Walker's murder.

The Investigation Unfolds

During the investigation, law enforcement officials identified Martrell Harris as a potential orchestrator behind the killings. Witnesses alleged that Harris hired Dexter Collins to carry out the murders, including that of David Walker. An arrest warrant was issued for Harris on December 7, 2019, but he did not surrender to authorities until March 17, 2021. Despite being charged with two counts of first-degree murder, Harris was released less than two months later due to insufficient evidence.

Legal Proceedings and Challenges

Dexter Collins was arrested on February 6, 2020, and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Walker's death. However, the charges were later dropped due to a lack of evidence. Similarly, Terrell Anthony was initially indicted for Walker's murder, but those charges were dismissed after he was taken into custody for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Jessica Clark. Anthony was found guilty of Clark's murder on September 6, 2022.

A Case Still Open

As of now, no one has been charged for the shooting deaths of David Walker, Harold Anthony, and Donovan Cummings that occurred on September 8, 2017. The East Baton Rouge District Attorney has stated that law enforcement agencies are still investigating these homicides. The grand jury will reconvene and re-evaluate the case if substantial new evidence is uncovered. ...Read More
