On February 6, 1996, ten-year-old Zachary Xerxes Ramsay left his home in the 400 block of North Fourth Street in Great Falls, Montana, around 7:30 a.m., heading to Whittier Elementary School. Dressed in a blue denim jacket with green sleeves, a blue football jersey with his last name "Ramsay" imprinted on the back in gold letters, stonewashed jeans, and black high-top sneakers, Zachary never arrived at school and has not been seen since.
Multiple witnesses reported seeing Zachary that morning. A family observed him walking down an alley near the 400 block of North Fifth Street, and another witness saw him crossing North Sixth Street around 7:45 a.m., appearing distressed and followed by an upset, obese man. This man was later identified as Nathaniel Bar-Jonah, a known child predator.
Nathaniel Bar-Jonah, born David P. Brown, had a history of child abduction and molestation. In 1977, he was convicted in Massachusetts for the abduction and attempted murder of two boys. After changing his name, he moved to Montana. On the day of Zachary's disappearance, Bar-Jonah was seen near the alley where Zachary was last observed. He had access to his mother's off-white, four-door 1978 Toyota Corolla, matching a vehicle reported near the scene. Bar-Jonah did not report to work that day, and his mother and brother were out of town.
In December 1999, Bar-Jonah was arrested for impersonating a police officer near an elementary school. A search of his apartment revealed disturbing evidence: a list titled "Lake Webster" containing names of boys, including "Zackery Ramsey" followed by the word "DIED," newspaper clippings about Zachary's case, and coded writings detailing the torture and cannibalism of children. Investigators also found a meat grinder with human hair, though DNA testing did not match Zachary or other known victims. ...Read More
