A Routine Dive Turns Tragic
On May 7, 2019, 72-year-old Arline Jacqueline Dunmire embarked on what was intended to be a routine recreational dive with her husband at the Adolphus Busch shipwreck, located approximately seven miles off the coast of Big Pine Key, Florida. The couple, utilizing their personal vessel, aimed to explore the popular dive site, which is known for its rich marine life and clear waters. However, during the dive, Dunmire became separated from her husband and subsequently vanished without a trace. Despite immediate search efforts, she was never found, and her disappearance remains a haunting mystery.
An Intensive Search Effort
Following Dunmire's disappearance, the U.S. Coast Guard, along with other agencies, launched an extensive search operation. Over the course of 106 hours, search teams scoured more than 2,100 square nautical miles in hopes of locating the missing diver.
