Cassanova Burnett, affectionately known as "Ruddy," was a vibrant presence in Eureka, California, known for his deep love of music and his engaging personality. Born in Jamaica and raised in England, Ruddy had a rich cultural background that he shared through his music and interactions with the community. Standing 5'8" tall, with brown eyes and gray dreadlocks, he was often seen with headphones around his neck, a testament to his lifelong passion for reggae music. In the 1980s, he even owned a record company named "Ruddy’s Music," highlighting his dedication to the craft .
In December 2018, at the age of 63, Ruddy informed a family member that he planned to take a Greyhound bus from Eureka to Los Angeles. This was not unusual, as he often traveled and maintained regular contact with his family. However, after this communication, all contact ceased. Associates in Los Angeles reported that he never arrived, and his sudden silence was out of character, raising immediate concerns among his loved ones .
At the time of his disappearance, Ruddy was described as a Black/African American male, weighing approximately 200 pounds. He had gray or partially gray hair, styled in dreadlocks, and a distinctive gap-toothed smile that made him easily recognizable. His love for music was a defining trait, often seen with headphones and sharing his passion with those around him .
The Eureka Police Department (EPD) has kept Ruddy's case open, recognizing it as one of 15 historical missing person cases spanning over three decades. In an effort to generate new leads, the EPD has been posting information about these cases to the public on the first Monday of each month. They have appealed to anyone who may have interacted with Ruddy around the time of his disappearance to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation ....Read More
