Charles Lee Reese, a 24-year-old African American civilian employed by the Military Sealift Command, vanished under troubling circumstances off the coast of Nags Head, North Carolina. He was stationed aboard the dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Medgar Evers and was officially reported missing after failing to report for morning muster on September 28, 2022.
