A Promising Life Cut Short

Joseph Michael Consonery was a 22-year-old New Orleans native with a bright future and a deep love for his family. Described by loved ones as kindhearted and full of life, he was a father to a young daughter, Navaeh Amyah Consonery. Joseph worked in the restaurant industry and had a passion for music, particularly rap. His vibrant personality and dedication to his family made his sudden disappearance and subsequent death all the more devastating.

The Disappearance

On April 17, 2017, Joseph was last seen leaving his girlfriend's residence in the 4800 block of Touro Street around 5 p.m. He mentioned he was heading to an unspecified location but never returned. Concerned after being unable to reach him, his mother, Rochell Consonery, reported him missing to the New Orleans Police Department on April 19. The family initiated a search, scouring various areas of the city in hopes of finding him.

A Gruesome Discovery

Tragically, on April 30, 2017, Joseph's body was discovered in a storm drain just two blocks from his mother's home. The recovery was challenging, requiring crews to dig around the drain to retrieve his remains. The coroner's report revealed that Joseph had been shot, and his body concealed in the drainage system. The location and manner of concealment suggested a deliberate attempt to hide the crime.

The Aftermath and Unanswered Questions

The discovery of Joseph's body left his family and the community in shock and mourning. His mother expressed her anguish, stating, "This was real gruesome. All my years, I've never heard of anything like this. For you to take someone's child and stuff them in a hole." Despite the passage of time, the case remains unsolved, with no arrests made. The lack of closure continues to haunt his family, who still seek justice for Joseph....Read More
