The Fateful Evening

According to reports, on September 30, 2009, officers responded to 2049 Hillsborough Avenue after receiving calls about multiple gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered Rains suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses stated that Rains and several other men were engaged in a card game when a late-model Ford Crown Victoria approached the scene.
