A Fateful Encounter at a South Side Gas Station

On the evening of October 28, 2016, the lives of two individuals were tragically cut short in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood. At approximately 10:20 p.m., 30-year-old Chiquita Ford and her companion, Brian Fields, also 30, were seated in a parked vehicle at a gas station located in the 1900 block of West Garfield Boulevard. Their routine stop took a fatal turn when an unidentified assailant approached their car and opened fire, striking Ford in the side and Fields in the chest.
