A Holiday Weekend Marred by Violence
The Fourth of July weekend in 2014 was intended to be a time of celebration in San Francisco. However, the city was instead gripped by a series of violent incidents that left residents shaken and authorities on high alert. Between July 3 and July 7, the Bayview and Visitacion Valley neighborhoods experienced a surge in shootings, resulting in four fatalities and several injuries. Among the victims was 49-year-old Wesley Willis, whose untimely death remains an unresolved case to this day.
The Fatal Shooting of Wesley Willis
On the evening of July 4, 2014, Wesley Willis was seated in his vehicle near the intersection of Harbor Road and Ingalls Street in the Bayview district. At approximately 10 p.m., an unidentified assailant approached from behind and discharged a firearm into the back of Willis's car. The attack was sudden and unprovoked, leaving Willis with fatal injuries. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
