In April 2012, the serene neighborhood near 28th Street and Earl Drive in Phoenix was rocked by a heinous crime. Nancy Newton, an 82-year-old woman living alone, became the victim of a brutal home invasion. A man broke into her residence, assaulted her, and left her grievously injured. Despite her resilience, it took Nancy over an hour to reach the phone and call for help. She was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries four days later. The Medical Examiner determined that the injuries she sustained contributed to her death.
