A Promising Life Cut Short
On the night of August 4, 2017, the San Carlos neighborhood of San Diego was shaken by the tragic death of 23-year-old Cyniace Vilsaint. Born on May 16, 1994, Cyniace had immigrated to the United States from Haiti with his family 11 years prior, seeking a brighter future. Residing on the 6600 block of Park Ridge Boulevard, near Patrick Henry High School and St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, he was known for his humility and strong family values. Friends and family described the Vilsaints as embodying the importance of family and community.
The Night of the Incident
At approximately 10:50 p.m., multiple 911 calls reported gunshots near Park Ridge Boulevard and Wandermere Drive. Responding officers discovered that Cyniace had been shot multiple times in the street outside his home.
