The Night of the Incident
In the early hours of July 6, 2020, Wilmington Police responded to reports of a shooting on the 800 block of North Pine Street. Upon arrival at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers discovered 19-year-old Nakysha "Keisha" Richardson suffering from a gunshot wound. She was immediately transported to a local hospital in critical condition but, despite medical efforts, succumbed to her injuries.
A Community in Mourning
The tragic death of Nakysha sent shockwaves through the Wilmington community. A memorial adorned with balloons, candles, and heartfelt messages was erected at the site of the shooting, serving as a poignant reminder of the young life lost.
