A Fateful Afternoon in March 2014
On a seemingly ordinary afternoon in late March 2014, the tranquility of the Villas at Ventana apartments on San Antonio's Northeast Side was shattered by a violent act. Residents were alarmed by the sound of gunfire, and first responders quickly arrived at the scene. Inside one of the apartments, they discovered 29-year-old David Koah slumped against a wall, a gunshot wound to the back of his head. Despite his grievous injury, David was conscious enough to utter the words, "Help me." Nearby, his infant daughter was found unharmed, a silent witness to the traumatic event.
A Life Forever Altered
David was rushed to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery. The bullet had caused significant damage, leaving him paralyzed. His mother, Tammy Davis, recounted that after his initial hospitalization, David showed signs of limited recovery; he could wiggle a toe and articulate a few words.
