A Community Shaken by Violence
On December 16, 2016, the Brighton Park neighborhood of Chicago was rocked by a violent incident that left two people dead and two others wounded. The shooting occurred in the 4300-block of South Rockwell Street, an area that had been grappling with escalating violence. Residents were left in shock and mourning as they tried to come to terms with the tragedy that had unfolded in their community.
The Victims of the Shooting
Among the victims was 47-year-old Arturo A. Zizumbo, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:40 p.m. Another victim, 17-year-old Daniel H. Torres, was also fatally wounded. Two other individuals, aged 17 and 18, sustained injuries and were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment.
