A Promising Life Cut Short
On the afternoon of February 5, 2014, the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago was shaken by a tragic event that claimed the life of 17-year-old Markeyo Carr. Carr, a high school junior residing in the 6500 block of North Ashland Avenue, was fatally shot in the head while standing in the parking lot of a McDonald's located at 6700 North Clark Street. His sudden and violent death left a void in the lives of his family and community.
The Incident: A Masked Gunman's Attack
At approximately 3:40 p.m., Carr and three other teenagers were approached by a masked gunman. Without warning, the assailant opened fire, striking all four individuals before fleeing the scene on foot.
