Introduction: A Tragic Evening in Roseland

On the evening of May 13, 2015, the Roseland neighborhood of Chicago was shaken by a devastating act of violence. Three 19-year-old men were seated in a parked vehicle near 107th and Wentworth when another car approached. Without warning, someone from the second vehicle opened fire, resulting in a tragic loss of life.

Victims of the Shooting: Lives Interrupted

The shooting claimed the lives of two young men: Shamari Salter and Terrance Canady. Salter was pronounced dead at the scene, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Canady, who was struck in the head and abdomen, was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at 11:22 p.m. The third individual in the car sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was reported to be in critical condition.
