A Promising Life Cut Short

On the early morning of September 17, 2008, 23-year-old Jordan McKay was cycling home after a late shift as a computer animator. Described by his parents as an individual who embraced life and cherished his family, Jordan had recently graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and was embarking on his professional journey. His route took him through San Francisco's Richmond District, a neighborhood he was familiar with and considered safe. However, that night, near the intersection of 15th Avenue and Cabrillo Street, his life was tragically cut short.

The Fatal Encounter

At approximately 1:40 a.m., as Jordan rode his bicycle, a light-colored 2008 Chevrolet Impala or Malibu approached him. Inside the vehicle were three to four young men. They stopped and attempted to rob Jordan, demanding his bicycle. Refusing to comply, Jordan fought back against his assailants. During the struggle, one of the attackers produced a black handgun and shot Jordan. The suspects then fled southbound on 15th Avenue, leaving Jordan mortally wounded.
