David Plank, a 54-year-old father of two from the southwest suburbs of Chicago, was known for his unwavering dedication to his family and his passion for fishing. Tragic Incident on the Way to Work

On August 3, 2016, Plank was en route to his maintenance job at Jackson Park Hospital, a routine he had followed diligently. While driving near 84th and Stony Island in the Avalon Park neighborhood, a stray bullet struck him in the chest, causing a fatal collision with another vehicle. Authorities confirmed that Plank was not the intended target of the gunfire.
