Cheryl Williamson, a 24-year-old senior at Western Kentucky University (WKU), was on the cusp of a bright future. As a fashion and design student, she was set to become the first in her family to graduate from college. Her journey from Louisville's Sheppard Square housing project to the halls of WKU was marked by determination and resilience. Cheryl's vibrant personality and unwavering ambition made her a beacon of hope and inspiration to her family and friends.

The Tragic Night at The Gillespie

On November 25, 2012, Cheryl attended a party at The Gillespie, an event venue located near Fifth and Market streets in downtown Louisville. The celebration turned tragic when, around 3:30 a.m., Cheryl was shot outside the venue. Despite being rushed to University Hospital by a bystander, she was pronounced dead approximately two hours later.
