A Promising Life Interrupted
On the night of July 4, 2019, as fireworks illuminated the skies over Washington, D.C., 23-year-old Keonte Haynesworth was gunned down in the 4200 block of 7th Street, Southeast. A resident of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Keonte had been striving to turn his life around, participating in programs aimed at guiding young adults toward positive paths. His untimely death not only silenced his aspirations but also left a void in the hearts of those who knew him.
The Tragic Night
At approximately 11:07 p.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Keonte suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
